| Abstract | Durante o mês de março de 2006 o leste do estado de São Paulo recebeu chuvas intensas. São Paulo, São José dos Campos e Campos do Jordão registraram anomalias positivas mensais da ordem de 200%, 70% e 30%, respectivamente. Três sistemas frontais deslocaram-se até Rio de Janeiro durante o mês e configurou-se, na média, a Zona de Convergência do Atlântico Sul (ZCAS) mensal. As altas subtropicais do Atlântico Sul e do Pacífico Sul se posicionaram mais ao sul que as posições climatológicas. Nos dias anteriores aos episódios de chuva intensa foram observados sistemas ciclônicos de escala intermediária na baixa troposfera na região de ZCA. During the month of March 2006 the eastern part of São Paulo state received heavy rainfall. São Paulo, São José dos Campos and Campos do Jordão registered positive precipitation anomalies of 200%, 70% and 30%, respectively. Three frontal systems crossed Rio de Janeiro and a mean monthly South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) configuration was evident. The subtropical high-pressure centers in the Pacific and Atlantic took a more southerly position. In the days preceding the heavy rainfall days an intermediate-scale cyclonic circulation center, in the region of SACZ, in the lower troposphere over São Paulo state was observed. |
